Happy 4th Cooper!!

I can not believe that Cooper is 4 years old. Just doesn't seem possible....but apparently my Dad has a daughter that is 30, so it isn't that much of a stretch! Unfortunately, Cooper's birthday falls during basketball playoffs, so it's hard to plan. Basketball did come to an end yesterday (but so proud of the boys and the hubs, they tried hard), but it's a little short notice to plan something for today. So we stayed at my parents last night, had breakfast at Starbucks, hot dogs for lunch, then drove home and ate Italian with Dad for dinner. We picked up his choice of cake, cheesecake, and now he's watching All Star Weekend with his dad. So a good day for him! In a couple of weeks we are having a full on Cars party, something super special right before his second sibling makes his or her debut. We did let home open a present today.....sorry he doesn't wear clothes at home, and I just don't know what to do about that....

So there is more partying to come, it'll be a good one!

I did take him to the dentist on Friday since my mom was going to see Dr. Ferrell we tagged a long, obviously he loved it....

Or not really at all. But he got a good report, so that's good.

List Update....

Here is updated list, I'm proud to say I've actually got a lot accomplished!

1. Wash all 0-3 month boy and girl clothes (not going to lie, I've been fine about not knowing what we're having this whole time, but when it comes down to we are having this baby in OKC and I will need to provide some sort of clothing for a while since I'll be at my moms, it's hard now not to know.)
2. Get boy nursery stuff out and cleaned.

3. Finish Maddie's baby book, yes I know she is (21) months (this is written in, but I need to glue the pictures down, just found the glue!)
4. Make freezer meals (I still have about 3 more meals to make, but I'll make them next week, we'll eat half and I'll freeze the other half, there are some advantages to Cooper not really wanting to eat anything but cheese and ham)
5. Dye oneies and embellish some burb rags (it's my attempt to somehow make some preparations for this baby) Pics Below!

6. Try to clean out mud room off laundry room so all these riding toys have a place to go, and while I'm "healing" for 6 weeks, my house maybe won't look like a total wreck.

7. Keep up with work- this is just going to be an ongoing thing until March 13th.....but so far so good!
8. Pack everyone for grandmas house for at least a week or so, good thing she has a washer/dryer

So there you have it, progress, it's all I can really ask for at this point! Only a little more then 3 weeks to go, and believe me, it's about that time.....my stomach and this baby are not getting along all of the sudden.
So we start playoffs tonight and we definitely play next Thursday, but hopefully we'll be playing til March 10th, hope it's not bad to pray for some wins, cause I have been....among other things of course!

Valentines Day & District Dinner

Well, Valentine's Day was pretty low key. Here are the kids with their presents that Mama Jo mailed them. They carried these baskets around for hours. So funny!

My husband sent me these beautiful roses, it's fun to get roses in the mail!

Cooper and I made some chocolate cupcakes for dessert, the ones with the cashews on them are so delicious! Chocolate and nuts, it's a lovely combo!

So my Dad and Papa Staff took off for a quick week in London and Paris, so my mom came up to visit. Which worked out perfect, cause she could have Valentine's Day with 2 of her favorite people and Jeremy and I could make a run to see this....

It was an okay movie, predictable, some funny parts, honestly I thought it would be better then it was, sorry Reese, I will still see every movie you're in.

So, Wednesday my mom took Cooper home with her, Maddie wasn't too happy about this. The other great thing about my mom coming up, she could bring me some meat from here.

If you ever need fajita meat, this is the place to get it, at about $28 a pan, it doesn't get cheaper. So a pan of chicken and a pan of steak fed about 15 boys, who probably each ate 3 fajitas or more, and I had a little bit of meat left over. Yes, we had the boys over for District Dinner, playoffs start Friday, it could be a long road, but we are very hopeful they'll do their best. (I used to hope this wouldn't put me into labor, now I say bring it on!) They were like, these taste like restaurant fajitas, and I was like cause they are. You think I can cook all that meat in my condition? I did make beans, rice, and queso to go with it. My house smelled really good. Oh I also made some sopapilla cheesecake for dessert, which they all loved. So a successful fun dinner, and a viewing of this....
Which prompted them to try to convince Coach he needed to get a technical foul, Jeremy in all of his seasons coaching, has never gotten a technical foul. He thinks it's not necessary. This makes me happy, because personally I feel it just makes the coach look silly yelling at the refs, newsflash, they aren't changing their call.

So now Maddie and I will make the trip to Edmond tomorrow, I'll go to the boys game at Oklahoma Centennial High School, then the kids and I will spend the weekend. I've got a baby shower for a good friend, some wedding planning for another friend, and a doctor's appointment on Monday. Just try to wrap everything up in a weekend!

Snow Day

Sorry to make all my Edmond Peeps jealous.....but Newkirk had a little snow day!
Cooper got dressed all by himself, and said he was going to build a snowman

Yes, he was planning to wear this....well after about 30 minutes of getting ready the kids played outside for about an hour. They all had a blast!

See we did get him to wear some
more clothes. Unfortunately our snowman fell over, guess it was a little top heavy. They also enjoyed a snow ball fight! I've got more pics on the camera, but let's be realistic, we all know I'm not downloading those any time soon! So I'm glad the kids got to enjoy some time with their Dad today!

"Coach"

There is a big part of me that loves that my kids get to be so involved in their Dad's career. I always liked going to work with my Dad when I was younger. So Saturday when the Seniors were here, Cooper started calling his Dad "Coach", which I knew would probably some day come. It's always weird, because everyone calls him "Coach" and to me, he's Jeremy. To his kids he should probably be "Dad", Cooper does still call him Dad, but when the boys are around he calls him Coach. Is it bad that he calls him Coach?

So why do I like for my kids to be around this? Well, for starters we are blessed this year and have a great group of guys. Everyone at the basketball games has been so helpful in keeping up with Cooper running around, I'm just not very fast these days. The older kids that play Jr. High Ball or JV keep him entertained and include him during games, which I think is nice.

The Senior boys are really nice to Cooper, they always play with him when they come over for breakfast. Recently we left some cars at a game, and a mom picked them up. Her son brought them over and played with Cooper for about 45 minutes one day. I think that says a lot for him to do that.

They let both of my kids climb all over them, join them for tea parties, cars and trains. Cooper can tell you just about every boys name, he really knows the Seniors best, but we spend the most time with them outside of the gym.

So all I can do is hope that we are as much of a blessing to them, either now, or whenever they look back on their time at Newkirk as they are to us. I'm sure not every Coach is as involved in their players lives, but I think that's part of why you're a coach, you want to make a positive difference in the lives of your players on and off the court.
